Request on active participation in technical committee activities of IAPH

Dear Valued IAPH Members,

We hope you and your team are keeping well.

We are writing to inform you about the decisions that the IAPH Board took during the Board Meeting in London on 28 November 2022, asking your active participation in technical committee activities of IAPH.

The Board recognized that three strategic technical committees; 1) climate and energy, 2) data collaboration and 3) risk and resilience have made significant achievements since 2020, mainly owing to the greatest efforts made by the chairs/vice-chairs and P&S unit staff. Thanks to the new online meeting technology (e.g., TEAMS, ZOOM, etc.), we have thankfully observed more than fifty members for each committee who participated at least once. However, we are fundamentally facing lack of human resources who intensively work together with the said core members in the committees.

Therefore, top management of the IAPH member organizations are kindly invited to appoint appropriate individuals of your organizations who are well motivated to work together intensively on a specific topic in the committees. We believe that the internal recognition of technical committee activities in your organization may help the appointed person work more actively by allocating his/her work time to the committee work.

If you appoint new individuals of your organizations who engage in technical committees, please contact Mr. SUZUKI Takeshi ([email protected]), who is responsible for operation of the technical committees.

Best wishes,

Masahiko Furuichi                                                           Patrick Verhoeven
