Just-in-time arrival of vessels

IAPH has actively participated in the formulation and updating of the new IMO Just-In-Time (JIT) Arrival Guide, which was developed by the Global Industry Alliance to support low carbon shipping (Low Carbon GIA). The IMO JIT Guide documents the findings of a series of industry roundtables, with nearly 50 companies and organizations who are key stakeholders in the port call process, including the International Taskforce Port Call Optimization. The Guide provides a holistic approach to Just in Time arrivals, considering contractual and operational aspects. The ultimate goal of work in this area, which is further detailed in the Port Call Optimization section of the Data Collaboration section, is to reduce vessel time at berth and to enable a ship’s captain to minimize emissions in the approach, pilot station stay, berthing, port operations and port departure process of a vessel port call.
