On Wednesday, 9 October, some thirty participants gathered for the kick-off meeting of the IAPH-WPSP Cruise Project. Participants representing port authorities, cruise terminals, cruise port associations and a classification society met to explore how a global, harmonised format for collecting data on emissions of cruise ships during port calls could be established. The group aims for a measuring process that minimises administrative burden, as well as promoting consistency and industry engagement. That engagement will include the involvement of cruise lines, who are being invited to join the group in an advisory capacity.
