Port of Taichung is located in central Taiwan, 508 nautical miles from Shanghai, 395 nautical miles from Hong Kong, and is located at the center of the East Asia shipping routes. Port of Taichung is a regional service center for large-scale bulk cargo shipping and storage as well as a near-sea container shipping port. With a comprehensive ground transport network, Port of Taichung is adjacent to the Taichung International Airport, and serves as a key cross-strait passenger and cargo vessel berthing port. The main shipments comprise of coal, oil, iron ore, liquefied natural gas, cement and cargo goods.
