Bintulu Port is an international port that has a strategic position in Northeast Sarawak, which is on the route between the Far East and Europe. It is also the main route for the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Malaysia. In addition, Bintulu Port also offers modern and sophisticated facilities and equipment for handling containers, liquid and dry bulk cargo as well as general cargo. Following the privatization of Bintulu Port operations in 1993, the Bintulu Port Authority was restructured to be in line with its main function as a Regulatory Body. Bintulu Port Authority is also responsible for monitoring and ensuring the safety of port operations.
