The IAPH-Mercator webinar series – which keeps members informed on hot topics due for discussion at the 2025 World Ports Conference – continues in March. ‘Impact of geopolitical changes on ports – what does the new global landscape mean for trade’ will take place on 12 March at 5.00 PM CET/08.00 AM PST. The beginning of the year has been marked by announcements of trade tariffs, continued attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and the imminent threat of escalation of hostilities in several regions of the world. What does this mean for trade, and, in particular, for global ports? Attendees will hear the views of Cary Davis, the president and CEO of the American Association of Ports Authorities (AAPA) representing ports interests in Washington DC. They will also be offered a market intelligence perspective on trade lane activity in the container sector from former container shipping CEO/CCO Nigel Pusey of Container Trades Statistics, as well as an interview with Captain Allan Gray, who has recently joined Sentient Ports, an organisation offering the tools to support ports in evaluating and manage risk. IAPH Insider readers can register for the event here.
