Ports & Harbors January/February issue is out now

The first edition of Ports & Harbors for 2026 is now available. The cover interviewee for the January/February edition is IAPH’s recently elected regional VP for Africa Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, managing director and chief executive officer of the Nigerian Ports Authority. In conversation with IAPH managing director Patrick Verhoeven, he outlines his plan to transform the country’s ports, as well as providing historical context on the challenges the continent has faced in developing port infrastructure. The issue also includes an interview with Captain William K. Ruto, managing director of Kenya Ports Authority, about developments at his country’s ports. The country focus for this edition is on ports in Malaysia, and there are articles highlighting digitalisation initiatives for smaller ports and IAPH-led projects and tools to get ports ready for seaborne transportation of clean marine fuels. This issue also includes a look ahead to 2026 as seen by port sector leaders and an examination of how leadership models within the ports industry might be reshaped with the further advance and integration of automation.
