ESI Advisory Group meets in Hamburg

Members of the Advisory Group of the IAPH Environmental Ship Index (ESI) met in Hamburg last week, together with Green Award Foundation, who administer the ESI programme on behalf of IAPH. The agenda featured a discussion on the further development of the module to measure ship emissions at berth and alignment of the ESI formula on CO2 emissions with the Net Zero Framework that was provisionally adopted by the IMO last month. The Advisory Group provides technical recommendations to the ESI Board, who will be meeting next week to discuss the conclusions reached at the Hamburg meeting. ESI is the established global standard for ports to incentivise the improvement of shipping’s environmental performance. If your port is interested in joining the scheme, contact IAPH’s ESI liaison Takeshi Suzuki ([email protected]). Participation is free of charge for IAPH regular members.
