On Monday and Tuesday last week, IAPH member experts from a variety of port authority teams – including harbour masters, sustainability, bunkering, hazardous cargo and safety – met to discuss and develop the coming suite of Clean Marine Fuels Working Group and Port Readiness Level Working Group tools. These volunteer ports are making efforts to equip the global maritime community with the tools to assess candidate bunker operators, prepare terminals and ports for new vessel calls propelled by the new fuels and prepare for bunkering operations. Both teams worked on specifying a Port Readiness Level tool for new fuels as a cargo and delivered that vision to the CEM-HUBS meeting. We encourage members to join these working groups and share their time and expertise to ensure sufficient support for this excellent work programme to continue. Those interested are invited to contact the working group chairs – Peter Alkema of Port of Amsterdam for Clean Marine Fuels and Françoise van den Brink of Port of Rotterdam for the Port Readiness Levels.
