IAPH has appointed Guimara Tuñón Guerra as development director of the Central and South America region, in a newly created role intended to increase regional engagement and expand membership. With more than 20 years of experience in the maritime sector, Guimara has worked across public and private institutions in the fields of port operations, maritime transportation, logistics, and maritime business administration. Guimara occupied the role of IAPH regional vice president for the region in the period 2017-2019, during her tenure as general director of Ports and Maritime Ancillary Industries of the Panama Maritime Authority. Guimara also served as Panama delegate to the IMO, and Organization of American States. She is managing partner and CEO of the consulting firm Maritime Policy Bureau and dean of the School of Business, Logistics and Tourism at the Universidad Católica Santa María La Antigua (USMA) in Panama City. She holds a Law Degree and three Master’s Degrees (including in Port and Maritime Management and Port Logistics).
