Insider readers are encouraged to register here for the first #IAPH2025 webinar. Titled ‘Creating economic opportunities for both the port as well as the community – best practices’, it takes place on 21 February at 10.00 CET/ 09.00 GMT. Ports are under increasing pressure from their local communities to add value, in terms of improved air, water and soil quality, greater urban mobility, less noise, and more opportunities for local people. In the webinar attendees will learn directly from port professionals about practical measures their ports are taking not only to include port communities in their business model, but to also support their sustainable economic growth thereby strengthening their own license to operate. Moderator Victor Shieh (strategy and communications director, IAPH) will be joined by Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof (chief executive officer, MMC Port Holdings, formerly CEO of Northport – Malaysia), Craig Wilson (head of sustainability, Port of Brisbane) and Bart van Eenoo (chief executive officer, Autonomous Port of Cotonou). Leading up to the World Ports Conference taking place in Kobe later this year, this webinar series will keep members informed on hot topics due for discussion in October, when industry-leading speakers will gather for the association’s 70th anniversary conference. Each webinar will cover one or more of the areas of interest of the World Ports Sustainability Program, based on member polling on which subjects they most wanted to explore in more detail in 2025.
