IAPH presents at humanitarian logistics cluster

The Logistics Cluster is the humanitarian logistics coordination mechanism, mandated by the UN General Assembly. Hosted within the UN World Food Programme, the Logistics Cluster is a community of over 700 humanitarian partners including NGO’s, all UN agencies, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The cluster focuses on operational support in humanitarian crises to all humanitarian actors and is completely funded through institutional donor contributions. Both globally and in country the Logistics Cluster coordinates efforts to overcome challenges in the humanitarian logistics and supply chain, before, during and after complex emergencies and natural disasters. Twice a year, the Logistics Cluster community of humanitarian logistics decision makers holds an extensive consultation. IAPH Managing Director Patrick Verhoeven was invited to attend the autumn session of this year and present the impact of COVID-19 on the port sector, alongside representatives of the aviation, road transport, and energy sectors, who gave similar presentations. He further joined a discussion on the outlook for the sector, addressing major challenges like decarbonisation and digitalisation. You can download Patrick’s presentation here.
