IAPH president Jens Meier and managing director Patrick Verhoeven attended the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) Conference earlier this month. Held in Gdansk, 7-8 May under the theme of ‘Competitiveness as driver of resilience’, the conference included a ‘’port executive lounge’ session at which Jens spoke, featuring senior port executives reflections on presentations given earlier on the first day of the conference, covering macro-economic, energy and geopolitical outlook. Alongside representatives from the ports of Barcelona, HAROPA and Rotterdam, Jens highlighted the importance of cooperation between ports to build resilience. He also emphasised the role of organisations like IAPH and ESPO to bring together knowledge and expertise from leading port professionals.
