Watch now: decarbonisation and port infrastructure

An IAPH-Mercator webinar examining port decarbonisation priorities is available to watch on demand. Delivered last month, the online event examined how the adjournment of a decision on the IMO Net Zero Framework in London – as well as discussions at COP 30 in Belém – had affected port infrastructure planning for a multi-fuel future. Moderator Antonis Michail (IAPH technical director) spoke with a high-level panel comprising Vinicius Patel, IAPH regional VP for Central & South America and director of port administration at Port of Açu, Sophie Delannoy, programme manager sustainable transport fuels at North Sea Port, Cynthia Irene, managing director of Kamarajar Port, and Stefanus Gariseb, executive risk management, Namport. The panellists shared key insights, including the need for ports to engage upstream with energy majors, the importance of land allocation for planning, the value of pilotage trials around alternative fuels and the impact of national decarbonisation strategies. The webinar recording can be viewed here. A further six World Ports Conference webinars will be offered by IAPH and Mercator in 2026 for general registration.
