Port Endeavor makes its debut in Chinese

Last Friday at the Antwerp Port House, the APEC-Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Center led by Jenny (Tingting) Yao and Carolien De Vries played the first Port Endeavor game in Chinese, for a government delegation. IAPH’s strategy and communications director Victor Shieh provided the delegation with an overview of Chinese membership as well as explaining the origins of the game. The Chinese government delegation led by deputy director Tian Jia of the Transport Planning and Research Institute, Ministry of Transport, China played 14 rounds of the game, with players able to transform the game cards into Chinese characters through their smart apps. There were just two points between the three teams at the end, with high scores of 63, 64 and 65 – congratulations to all who took part! Japanese will become the fifth language to be used for the game at the IAPH World Ports Conference next month, with a Portuguese version also on the way to join the English, French and Spanish editions.
