The July-August edition of Ports & Harbors magazine is out now, led by a cover story interview with Masaharu Shinohara, executive officer at Kobe-Osaka International Port Corporation in Japan and IAPH vice president for Asia (South/West, East and Middle East). In conversation with IAPH managing director Patrick Verhoeven, Masaharu addresses the key issues facing the Japanese port industry and extends an invitation to all readers to visit Kobe for the IAPH World Ports Conference in October. The project focus article looks at the transpacific tensions arising out of the US-East Asia trade routes and their implications for the ports and maritime sector. P&H editor Martin Clark also speaks to IAPH technical director Antonis Michail about the growth of the World Ports Sustainability Program (WSPS). There is also an article highlighting how ports can embed cyber resilience into their strategy as technology accelerates, bringing with it both threats and opportunities.
