#IAPH2024 was bookended by critical organisation meetings, with the IAPH Council meeting held the day before the conference opened, and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held immediately after the closure of the final session. At both events, IAPH managing director Patrick Verhoeven provided an extensive overview of the association’s activities for the year to date, membership evolution, and the key development areas for 2025-27, including strategic priorities, projects and events. At the AGM, secretary-general Masahiko Furuichi presented a report on the financial situation and president Jens Meier spoke to regional vice-presidents about their goals for the year ahead. Michael Luguje (Africa), and Vinicius Patel (Central and South America), Gene Seroka (North America), Masaharu Shinohara (Asia South/West, East & Middle East ) and Eranda Kotelawela (Southeast Asia and Oceania) were all present. The position of VP for Europe is currently vacant. At both meetings, members also heard directly from the chairs of the IAPH technical committees – Peter Mollema (Climate and Energy), Pascal Ollivier (Data Collaboration), Simone Maraschi (Cruise), Martins Ziemanis (Legal) and Ichio Motono (Planning, Operation and Finance) – with all giving their opinions on the key priorities for 2025. Peter Mollema also announced he was stepping down as the chairman of the Climate and Energy committee, while continuing to contribute to the activities of IAPH. Patrick Verhoeven thanked Peter for his substantial contributions to IAPH over the years.

The meeting of the IAPH Council took place at the headquarters of Hamburg Port Authority
