As officially confirmed in Hamburg, the 2025 edition of the IAPH World Ports Conference will be hosted by the City of Kobe, Japan. #IAPH2025 will take place on 7-9 October next year and will mark the 70th year of the association. This vibrant and advanced port city venue is ready to host professionals from across the global maritime supply chain for networking, innovation and debate. Below you can enjoy the video shown to delegates in Hamburg by Tomohisa Izumi, deputy director general of the Ports & Harbors Bureau of the Kobe City Government. Kobe was introduced as ‘the city where the idea of IAPH took shape’. Elsewhere in this edition of IAPH Insider, you can read the first in a series of regular articles exploring the history of the IAPH and the World Ports Conference; this week we recount how the first ‘preparatory’ World Ports Conference took place in 1952 in Kobe, where the seeds of the IAPH were planted following agreement between Japanese and American participants. IAPH was established three years later and in Kobe the association will return to its roots, to celebrate seven successful decades of operation. More information on #IAPH2025 will be available soon.
