Port of Oakland

The Port of Oakland was established in 1927 on the East shore of San Francisco Bay. In the late 1960s, it was the first major port on the West Coast to build terminals for container ships. It has served as Northern California’s principal ocean gateway for international containerized cargo shipments. Today, it is one of the ten busiest container ports in the U.S.
