On Monday this week, the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM17) plenary session on Clean Marine Energy Hubs (CEM-HUBS) took place online, with IAPH managing director Patrick Verhoeven joining the founding CEM-HUBS partner International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and their secretary general Thomas Kazakos, as well as co-chair of Advisory and Private Sector Committees Nick Potter, who is CEO of AET. The session was moderated by Rasha Adrabo of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), which was officially announced as an implementation partner of the CEM-HUBS initiative. National secretary of the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy Renato Dutra intervened with his support as member country of the nine-country CEM-HUBS coalition, together with contributions from Ricardo Batista of the IMO and Arno van den Bos of IRENA, with closing remarks from Jean-François Gagné, head of the Clean Energy Ministerial. ICS and IAPH offered a summary presentation of the upcoming report by EY Parthenon, which is part of a blueprint for action alongside an IMO-led IRENA report for collective action on how to implement CEM-HUBS, and which will feature at the closing plenary session on day two of the 2026 IAPH World Ports Conference.
