As the global maritime sector adapts to rapid economic and technological shifts, the IAPH-KMI Port Forum 2026 will explore the major challenges and opportunities shaping the future of ports. Taking place on 27 July 2026 from 10:30 JST at Hotel Azur Takeshiba in Tokyo, the forum will be organized by IAPH, Korea Maritime Institute, and the Japanese Foundation for IAPH, and feature keynote presentations and three thematic sessions. The keynote presentations will highlight global trends in port sustainability and provide perspectives on maritime trade in an increasingly uncertain environment. The first session will focus on decarbonization, i.e., Japan’s Carbon Neutral Port initiative, a new power grid across the ocean, and eco-friendly marine fuels. The second session will focus on digitalization, i.e., AI-container terminals, digital smart port strategy, and smart port transformation. The third session will focus on operational efficiency, i.e., terminal appointment systems, and state-of-the-art solutions to improve port operations. The full program is available here.
