Earlier this month, Catherine Chow, IAPH’s regional development director for Greater China visited Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre (LSCM) in Hong Kong. On Monday 8 June, Catherine met with LSCM CEO Simon Wong, chief scientist Dr Frank Tong, special project director Dr Venus Lun and manager, port community system Kenneth Law; she presented the work of the IAPH and particularly its Data Collaboration Committee, as well as the World Ports Sustainability Program and the IAPH World Ports Conference. LSCM was founded in 2006 with funding from the Innovation and Technology Fund of HKSAR Government. The Centre is hosted by three leading universities in Hong Kong, namely the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Its mission has been to foster the development of competencies in logistics and supply-chain-related technologies in Hong Kong, as well as facilitating the adoption of these technologies by industries in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Its latest project is a Port Community System (PCS) that represents the first-ever digital platform in Hong Kong for cross-enterprise and inter-modal data sharing on cargo status.
