#IAPH2025 highlights CMF tools & GMCD cooperation

At the IAPH 2025 World Ports Conference in Kobe, IAPH announced two complementary initiatives to advance global port decarbonisation. First, with the launch of IAPH’s new Products Portal, the Clean Marine Fuels Working group’s member-developed tools became available via one hub. Among them are an industry-first publicly available ammonia bunker safety checklist, an updated series of liquid gases bunker checklists, a fuel-agnostic terminal call checklist, and the Clean Marine Fuels Ready Tool for terminals preparing to service vessels using new fuels. Second, IAPH forged a two-year coalition partnership with the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD). The alliance will co-develop and refine port technical tools, cooperate on joint pilot projects, and develop risk-mitigation strategies aimed at accelerating alternative fuel bunkering, infrastructure development, and regulatory alignment. Together, these initiatives will empower ports to play their role in the energy transition, delivering safety, regulatory coherence, and shared learning across the IAPH network of more than 201 port authorities and operators.
