On day three of #IAPH2025, more than 20 players from IAPH’s membership in Japan gathered for the first ever live gameplay of the Port Endeavor game in Japanese. The game was made available following months of preparation: translating all the activity, event, Port Endeavor and player profile cards; integrating them with Japanese characters in the Port Endeavor portal; and finally testing the registration and scoring systems on laptop, desktop, tablet and smart phone devices. With Japanese port community participants at senior level from Kobe, Osaka, Yokohama, Hakata, Nagoya, Tokyo, and Tomakomai among others, this first successful gameplay launched the IAPH’s business game in Japan, with many more to come. Many thanks to UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) TrainforTrade intern Kanon Yamagishi, developer Javier Belmonte, the entire IAPH Tokyo team who worked on the final translations, Mark Assaf, Dominique Chantrel and Gonzalo Ayala of UNCTAD TrainforTrade and the players who made it happen.
