Stakeholders from government, industry, and academia gathered at the Hotel Azur Takeshiba in Tokyo on Tuesday for the annual seminar organised by the Japanese Foundation for IAPH. This year, the event focused on the latest developments in port decarbonization, showcasing diverse strategies – including hydrogen utilization, green electricity transport, and blue carbon projects – that offer promising paths toward a sustainable and decarbonized future for ports. The seminar opened with welcome remarks by Dr. Takashi Owaki, president of the Japanese Foundation for IAPH, followed by a guest address from Mr. Ken Abe, director-general, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). The seminar concluded with an overview of the upcoming 2025 IAPH World Ports Conference in Kobe, presented by Mr. Tomohisa Izumi, deputy director general of the Port and Harbor Bureau, City of Kobe.
