IAPH’s Risk & Resilience committee met online on Thursday 3 July. Vice chair Shri Madiwal, (VP, operation and supply chain at Vancouver Fraser Port Authority) led a session that kicked off with a presentation by Helen Thanopoulou and Amalia Polydoropoulou, professors at the Department of Shipping Trade and Transport at the University of the Aegean. They profiled a Decision Support System (DSS) to Enhance Climate Change Port Resilience; the DSS is a modular, user-friendly tool to assist ports in making quick decisions about what actions to take when faced with climate events and how to increase future resilience. The DSS was created in partnership with ResPorts, an initiative aimed at strengthening the resilience of Greek ports. This was followed by a discussion of the impact of trade tariffs and geopolitical changes, in which members exchanged perspectives. Finally, the committee discussed the results of the recent IAPH World Ports Tracker 2025. The full report can be accessed via the Risk & Resilience page in the member’s area of the IAPH site.
