IAPH gives strategic view on ‘Transforming Thoothukudi’

IAPH India representative Ennarasu Karunesan spoke at a logistics conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Tuticorin in November. The theme of this 11th edition of the conference – aimed to promote Tuticorin Port and enhance the competitiveness of logistics industries in Tamil Nadu – was ‘Transforming Thoothukudi: Shipping, Logistics & Industries Hotspot of South India.’ Ennarasu delivered a keynote address on ‘Strategic Waters: Conquering Infrastructure, Competition, and Geo-Political Currents in Global Shipping,’ which emphasized the strategic importance of Tuticorin Port and its potential to become a major logistics and shipping hub for South India. The conference was attended by 250 senior stakeholders from the ports and logistics sectors. Twenty senior leaders from the ports and logistics industries across India shared their insights and expertise during the conclave. Earlier in the month, a letter of appreciation from IAPH secretary general Masahiko Furuichi was delivered by Ennarasu to N Vinodkumar, chairperson of India’s Mormugao Port, for the port’s efforts as an Incentive Provider in the Environmental Shipping Index (ESI) – it launched the ‘Harit Shrey’ program in October 2023.
