Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), formerly the Port of Kolkata, was renamed in 2020. It is the oldest port in India and India's only major riverine port, with a channel around 232 kilometers long from the sea. It has a vast hinterland, covering the entire northeastern states of India and its neighboring landlocked countries, Nepal and Bhutan.
