Asia-Pacific ports work on sustainable partnerships

Initiated by IAPH Vice-President Karuppiah Subramaniam (photo), a webinar for ports in South-East Asia and Oceania on sustainable port development was held this Tuesday, in partnership with Port Klang Authority, ASEAN Ports Association Malaysia and IAPH. The event was hosted by IAPH associate member Transport Events. Following an introduction to the World Ports Sustainability Program by IAPH Managing Director Patrick Verhoeven, port authorities and terminal operators from the region compared best practices on sustainable port strategies and specific initiatives on data collaboration, climate and energy and risk and resilience. In his conclusions, Capt Subramaniam emphasised the need to develop common standards, with global and regional partnerships to succeed and move forward in Asia-Pacific.
