Global Sulphur cap takes effect
The IMO global sulphur content cap applies from 1 January this year. It implies that the sulphur content of fuel oil used on board commercial ships trading outside sulphur Emission Control Areas (ECAs) must not exceed 0.50%. To mark the momentum, IMO has produced a new video about this global regulation that will reduce harmful emissions from ships, bringing significant benefits for both human health and the environment. All details about the global sulphur cap, including an extensive set of ‘frequently asked questions’ can furthermore be found on the IMO website.
