Visitors to IAPH Tokyo

On 1 November, Yvonne Mason, CEO, Capt. Bob Gilchrist, of safests, based in UK visited the IAPH headquarters and were warmly greeted by Secretary General Masahiko Furuichi and his staff. They exchanged views and opinions on various IAPH matters, including the upcoming IAPH Conference in Antwerp, 17-19 March 2020.
The company http://www.safests.com/company/ is an Associate member specialized in ship-to-ship transfer of oil and LPG, and it is regularly represented in IAPH conferences and meetings.

Messrs. Jan Fransen, Executive Director, and Keita Shinohara, Certification Manager, of the Green Award Foundation, an IAPH Associate member in the Netherlands, paid a courtesy visit to Secretary General Masahiko Furuichi on 28 October. They are visiting Japan to attend IAPH’s ESI (Environmental Ship Index) Working Group that was held, 21 and 22 October, in conjunction with Yokohama Maritime Forum, 23-25 October.
The Secretary General and his staff exchanged views and opinions on IAPH and its activity at large. Green Award Foundation is a non-profit making organization based in Rotterdam and manages and operates a voluntary quality assessment certification scheme that inspects and certifies ships in terms of safety, quality and environmental performance.

We received a delegation of Maldives Ports Limited, an IAPH member in Maldives on 25 October. Messrs. Ahmed Inaan, Hassan Muzni Mohamed and Mohamed Maseeh Abdul Sattar, who are an assistant general manager, were received and welcomed by Secretary General Masahiko Furuichi to exchange ideas and views on various issues.
They are visiting Japan to attend the Yokohama Maritime Forum and paid a courtesy visit to the IAPH Tokyo secretariat. Maldives Ports Limited are both regulator and operator of ports in the country.

Accompanied by his staff, Mr. Masamichi Morooka, President/CEO of Yokohama-Kawasaki International Port Corporation (YKIP), IAPH Regular Member based in Yokohama, Japan, visited with Secretary General Masahiko Furuichi at the IAPH head office in Tokyo to exchange views and opinions on the upcoming event organized by YKIP in Yokohama “Yokohama Maritime Forum 2019″. IAPH Working Groups on Environment Ship Index (ES) and Clean Marine Fuels are also meeting on 21 and 22 October in conjunction with the YMF 2019, celebrating the 160th anniversary of the opening of Port Yokohama. They confirmed a close tie of collaboration between IAPH and YKIP existed in the past and will continue to do so in the years to come. More details will follow.

Mr. John Beckett, Chair of ICHCA International and Capt. Richard Brough, Head of ICHCA International, visited the IAPH head office on 18 September and they were greeted by Secretary General Masahiko Furuichi and his staff.
They exchanged views and opinions on various industry issues, including cybersecurity that is now posing a threat to the stability of port operations here and there in the world. A joint effort is now underway between IAPH and ICHCA to effectively deal with the problem.
ICHCA is one of friendly organizations with whom IAPH concluded a Memorandum of Understand (MoU) for cooperation.
