IAPH Asia/Oceania Regional Meeting
Singapore

Attended by more than 150 delegates from 15 countries in Asia and Oceania,
including the representatives of Singaporean government and port/maritime
industry, the 9th IAPH Asia/Oceania Regional Meeting was held in Singapore,
25-27 March, 2009, hosted by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
IAPH 3rd Vice President, Mr. Tay Lim Heng, Chief Executive, MPA, welcomed
all participants gathered in Singapore, including President O.C. Phang.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport BG (NS) Choi Shing Kwok said, "From having to deal with a capacity crunch as recently as six months ago, ports have now to adapt to lower business activity. In these challenging times, this forum will provide a useful platform to discuss ideas on how the maritime community can stay focused on their shared objectives of developing more secure, more competitive and cleaner ports."
At the Port Forum concurrently held with the Regional Meeting, there were
three sessions dealing with hot topics of today, as follows.
- Session 1 - Supply Chain Security and Port Logistics
- Session 2 - Port Development in Emerging Markets
- Session 3 - Marine Environmental Protection
