After almost one decade of absence the port management company of Germanys
number two seaport Bremen/Bremerhaven just recently decided to turn back
into the international Association of Ports and Harbours. For Bremen, one
of the 16 Federal States of Germany, the time in between was marked by
a number of changes and milestones not only in terms of substantial infrastructure
projects but also in terms of the port organisation and management structures.
In the year 2002 the port administration was reorganised in the way of
corporatisation. All operational tasks like marketing, port planning, construction,
dredging and maintenance as well as financial affairs concerning port dues
and facility management since then are responsibly executed by the newly
formed bremenports GmbH & Co. KG. In addition bremenports today acts
as an engineering and consulting partner for regional and international
port and logistics projects. The company is owned by the Free Hanseatic
City of Bremen.
