Trade facilitation
Keenly recognizing the indispensable role
ports play in the world maritime commerce,
IAPH strongly believes in and promotes the
fact that a free and smooth flow of maritime
cargoes contributes to the healthy and sound
development of world trade and economy.
With this backdrop, IAPH continues to work
together with international organizations
concerned with the simplification and harmonization
of international trade procedures, such as
WCO (World Customs Organization) in the context
of improving Customs procedures and UNCEFACT
(United Nations Center for Trade Facilitation
and Electronic Business) in the context of
promoting Information Technology (IT) applications
and electronic commerce in maritime commerce.
To encourage ports to promote IT application
much further, IAPH itself has been running
for years the Information Technology (IT)
Award, a biennial contest to compete for
excellence in IT application in ports.
