IAPH Executive Committee Meeting
Yokohama, Japan, 10-13 January 2005
The IAPH Executive Committee (EXCO) Meeting was convened, January 10 -
13 at PACIFICO Yokohama, Japan, hosted by Port of Yokohama. Some 32 delegates
from 11 countries (including their accompanying persons) took part in the
meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, the delegates offered a silent prayer for those who were victimized in the large-scale earthquake and the resulting tsunami hitting devastatingly countries along the Indian Ocean on December 26, 2004.
After 3-day sessions, the delegates enjoyed sightseeing in the heart of
Tokyo and visited the Secretariat at Takeshiba Pier on Friday morning,
January 14. They joined the IAPH 50th Anniversary Tokyo Forum at the Keidanren
Kaikan in the afternoon, kicking off the Association's 50th Anniversary
celebration in 2000.

A Resolution on Action to Strengthen Preparedness of Ports for Earthquake
and Tsunami Disasters was unanimously adopted at the meeting.
During the meeting, a seminar on Container Traffic Forecast for the Asia/Pacific
Region was jointly organized with the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation
(APEC) on January 11.
