IAPH 50th Anniversary Tokyo Forum

The Forum was held on the afternoon of 14 January 2005 at the Keidanren Kaikan Building (Japan Business Federation) in downtown Tokyo under the theme of "Work together for the Quality Port".

Kitagawa, Minister, MLITThe event comprised two parts: Part One being the ceremony commemorating the IAPH's 50th Anniversary where President Pieter Struijs looked back on the past five decades of IAPH, the Honorable Kazuo Kitagawa, Minister of Land, Infrastructure & Transport, Japanese Government, delivered a congratulatory address, followed by a video presentation giving a brief history of IAPH and the roles it has played in uniting ports in the world. Mr. Dominic Taddeo, President/CEO,Port of Montreal, Canada, acted as MC.

In Part Two, Mr. Norio Ohga, Honorary Chairman, Sony Corporation, delivered his keynote speech entitled "Expectations toward the ports in the world", followed by a panel discussion on "Work together for the Quality Port". Prof. Hitoshi Ieda, School of Engineering, Dept of Civil Engineering, Univ. of Tokyo, acted as moderator with the following three panelists.
